Election for selecting members of Boeung O’Svay Tourism Community Management Committee

[Preah Vihear] On 3 Many 2023, PIU Preah Vihear facilitated an election to select members of Boeung O’Svay Tourism Community Management Committee who will be in charge of the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of national tourism development policies and poverty reduction strategies of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) through the development of tourism communities;
  • Protect forests, biodiversity and water resources for the common goods of the people in the community;
  • Job creation and income generation for the community through tourism services;
  • Fulfill the needs of local people by using natural resources in sustainable manners through community tourism;
  • Maximize the involvement of community in biodiversity conservation management through community and agro-tourism services provisions.

After this free and fair election completed, PIU Preah Vihear successfully selected 11 (F:5) members including 1 Committee Director, 1 Committee Deputy Director and other 9 members who are in charge of each section of this committees.

A Kickoff Meeting to review mission

In the morning of Monday 11th September 2023, H.E. Kemreat Viseth, Chairman of CSAF and Coordinator of Executing Agency of Community-Based Tourism COVID-19 Recovery Project (CBTCR), presided and facilitated a Kickoff Meeting to review mission with participation of representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB), representatives of Executing Agency (EA), representatives of Implementing Agency (IA), representatives of Ministry of Economics and Finances (MEF) and project consultants in order to share project overview, Issues/Challenges, and update procurement, safeguards, and gender status.Speaking in this meeting, H.E. Kemreat Viseth addressed that Community-Based Tourism COVID-19 Recovery Project (CBTCR) is a part of TECH100 Villages Project which is still ongoing after Covid 19 crisis and implementing this project will solely contribute to the “ Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I” The Royal Government of Cambodia of the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei HUN MANET, Prime Minister of Cambodia. His Excellency also mentioned the achievements, the challenges and the direction of the project. Finally, His Excellency expressed grateful thanks and encouraged all stakeholders who participated in this meeting to raise challenges and concerns to discuss and find solutions together.It is worth noting that after this meeting, all stakeholders of the project will visit the project sites in the 2 target villages of the project in Takeo and Preah Vihear Provinces from 12 to 15 September 2023.

Wrap-Up Meeting on Review Mission

[Phnom Penh] After successful completion of Review Mission conducted on 11-15th September 2023 in Takeo and Preah Vihear Provinces, CSAF on behalf of Executing Agency of CBTRC facilitated a Wrap-up Meeting on Tuesday 19th September 2023 presided over by H.E. Kemreat Viseth, Chairman of CSAF and Coordinator of Executing Agency (EA) with participation of representative of Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, JICA representative, ADB delegation to Cambodia (ADB-CARM), MEF Expert Officers, and national and international project consultants.This meeting aims to share current overall project status; mission findings on project finance, procurement, safeguards, and gender status; and to discuss and agree on Action Plan to accelerate project progress in 2023.

Community Meeting in Angkor Borei to Disseminate CBTCR Project

[Takeo] On 24 May 2023, Mr. Ruos Rath, Deputy Governor of Angkor Borei District and Director of PIU Takeo conducted a dissemination meeting on “Community-Based Tourism Covid-19 Recovery Project” at Angkor Borei Administration Office with total 55 (F:22) participants who are members of Commune Council, all village chiefs in the commune, and local people in the community.The objectives of this meeting are to disseminate the objectives and main activities of the project, Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in Takeo Province, requirements and procedures to elect and establish Phnom Da Community Tourism Management Committee, and drafting bylaws, regulation and roles and responsibilities of the committee members.It’s worth to note that Community-Based Tourism Covid-19 Recovery Project consists of 2 PIU including Phnom Da Resort in Angor Borei District, Takeo Province and Techo Thamacheat Village, Choam Khsant district, Preah Vihear Province who are in charge of three main activities including strengthening local capacity for community-based tourism development and promotion; implementing Community-based tourism and livelihood activities and enhancing Community-based public facilities and services.
